High Fashion Paralyze - Salon du Détester

While in Japan, I had the pleasure of photographing High Fashion Paralyze (AKA gibkiy gibkiy gibkiy), featuring Sakura, Kazuma, Aie, and Kazu. This show was an eye opener and overall entertaining experience.

I’ve never been a fan of music that utilized guttural vocals and typically avoid anything with a vocal volume that exceeds the yell of a stage roadie, but these guys are a healthy mix of melody and madness. The drums were a song in themselves and the guitar and bass were heavy yet clear, leaving plenty of room for Kazuma to weave in vocals that could give even Morrie (Creature Creature) a run for his money. These guys were absolutely charged about the music and their musicianship was impecable.

For those who think Goth Rock and Visual Kei musicians are not as serious as some of the more visually relaxed genres, be warned— there are serious musicians behind the masks, makeup, and hair!
